The task of the Ukrainian delegation at the talks with Russia is to arrange a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in a video message published on his Telegram channel.

He added that he considers the goal of negotiations with Russia to be obtaining “effective guarantees”, without specifying what these guarantees should be, according to Gazeta.Ru.

“Our goal is that in this struggle, in this difficult negotiation work, Ukraine will receive the necessary result, which is necessary for us. For peace, for security. So that we have guarantees, normal and effective. Not like in Budapest, not like in our sky. And such that the Ukrainians could say – this works, these are guarantees, ”Zelensky said.

The Ukrainian leader added that “it is necessary to speak.” In his opinion, it was thanks to the negotiations in Ukraine that “more than 10” humanitarian corridors were opened.

On March 13, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that talks between Russia and Ukraine were scheduled for Monday, March 14. According to him, the talks will be held via video link.

At the same time, the head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, Leonid Slutsky, admitted that progress in the negotiations between the delegations of Russia and Ukraine could soon develop into a common position. Prior to this, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu pointed to the convergence of the positions of the Russian Federation and Ukraine during the negotiations.

On March 10, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held talks with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmitry Kuleba. Following the talks, the Russian minister noted that Moscow is in favor of any contacts on the problems of the Ukrainian crisis and the development of ways out of it.

In mid-February, due to the aggravation of the situation in the Donbass as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian military authorities of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DNR and LNR), they announced a general mobilization and announced the evacuation of the civilian population to the Russian Federation. On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree recognizing Moscow’s independence of the republics.

On February 24, Russia launched a special operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass. As the press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov clarified, the special operation has two goals – the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. According to him, both of these aspects pose a threat to the Russian state and people.
