STORY – The Ukrainian president has announced the suspension of several of his relatives suspected of treason.

Betrayals always have a bitter taste. Perhaps even more so in times of war, when they are for the benefit of the enemy. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the suspension of several of his relatives this weekend: Iryna Venediktova, the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, the equivalent of the Minister of Justice. Alongside the ex-comedian during his campaign in 2019, it was she who worked since the start of the invasion to prosecute Russian troops in court for war crimes. The 43-year-old lawyer, already in the hot seat before the war, was suspended on suspicion of treason in the ranks of her ministry. The same reasons prompted Volodymyr Zelensky to dismiss the head of the intelligence services, but the decision is much more symbolic.
