Zelensky: “Putin will invade more post-Soviet countries”

by time news

The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky spoke today (Friday) at the Security Conference in Munich and addressed a number of issues concerning his country’s war with Russia, and among other things the future plans of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, according to Zelensky: “It is clear as day that Ukraine will not be the last stop in Putin’s invasion plan “The Russian leader will continue to invade more post-Soviet countries,” he said. “It is critical not to delay the supply of weapons to Ukraine, because while the West is discussing the supply of tanks, the Kremlin is thinking of ways to ‘suffocate’ Moldova,” he added.

The Ukrainian leader also stated that the chance of Belarus joining the fighting at the moment is low, and compared the war, which has been going on for almost a year, to a battle between David and Goliath. According to Zelensky, Kyiv has not yet received the David Slingshot interception system from Israel, but “I believe it is only temporary,” he said.

At the same time, Defense Minister Yoav Galant spoke at the conference, warning against the continued export of Iranian weapons to countries around the world. He also clarified: “All possible measures must be taken to prevent Iran from having a nuclear capability”

German Chancellor Olaf Schulz also spoke at the conference, saying that the allies who can transfer tanks to Ukraine should do so now, noting that Germany will try to facilitate the decision processes when it is made, and will assist logistically as well as by training Ukrainian soldiers.

As you may remember, last week Zelensky went to visit the United Kingdom and was with King Charles at Buckingham Palace, and with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. Zelensky’s trip to Britain is his second visit to a country outside his country since Russia’s invasion in February last year, and comes as Kiev urges the West to provide more military support. Britain has pledged to help expand the training of Ukrainian soldiers to include fighter pilots and marines, with Sunak adding that he wants to ensure that “Ukraine has an army capable of protecting its interests in the future as well.”
