Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the front line in eastern Ukraine’s Bakhmut region on Tuesday, his office announced.
“Volodymir Zelensky visited the brigades carrying out offensive actions in the Bakhmut area,” the Ukrainian presidency said in a statement.
Photos released by the Presidency of Ukraine show Zelensky meeting with several Ukrainian military personnel.
The Ukrainian president handed out decorations to soldiers who took part in the fighting on the country’s eastern border, where the most intense clashes with the Russian army took place.
Zelensky made a publication on a social network praising the Armed Forces of Ukraine and thanking them for their commitment to the conflict.
“Trust, strength and respect. These are the pillars of Ukraine’s unbreakable spirit. These are the reasons why, despite all odds, Ukraine is moving forward,” the president wrote online.
