On the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met personally with United States President Donald Trump for a roughly 40-minute discussion aimed at exploring pathways toward ending the conflict. Ukrainian officials reported that Russian forces fired ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones at six regions. In Kyiv, an overnight attack damaged a 22-story residential building in the Darnytskyi district, sparking a fire on the 12th floor and killing at least two people while wounding seven.

Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine, aerial attacks killed or wounded more Ukrainian civilians in July than in any month since March 2022, resulting in 437 deaths and more than 2,600 injuries. Total documented casualties since the invasion exceed 16,800 dead and 51,000 wounded.

Addressing the UN General Debate, Zelenskyy delivered a sweeping indictment of Russian leadership, applying a sharp medical metaphor to describe the origins of the conflict. Later on Wednesday, three people were killed in Sumy when a drone struck the grounds of a shopping mall, injuring 14 others in what regional authorities described as a targeted attack.
