Azerbaijan’s Successful Performance at the Paris Olympics

The Azerbaijani national team achieved remarkable success at the Paris-2024 Summer Olympic Games. Zemfira Meftahatdinova, vice-president of the National Olympic Committee, expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance.
“We are proud of every athlete who participated in the Games,” Meftahatdinova said. “Our team achieved great results, winning 2 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze medals.”
The vice-president highlighted the potential for even greater success, noting the injuries of some key athletes in crucial matches. “If not for those setbacks, we could have potentially won even more medals,” he stated.
Despite the setbacks, the Azerbaijani team made history by securing the 30th place in the overall medal ranking and setting a new Olympic record.
Notable individual performances:
Boxer Alfonso Dominguez (92 kg) performed exceptionally well.
Judokas secured gold with their determined fight.

Areas for improvement:
Meftahatdinova expressed disappointment that wrestlers Haji Aliyev (65 kg) and Maria Stadnik (50 kg) did not win medals.
