Zenless Zone Zero Version 3.1: Anniversary Celebrations and New Content
HoYoverse has officially announced that Zenless Zone Zero Version 3.1, titled The Long Goodbye,
will launch on July 29, 2026, across all available platforms. This update marks the game’s second anniversary, bringing a substantial wave of new content, including story expansions, fresh gameplay modes, and significant rewards for players, referred to as Proxies.

Anniversary Rewards: Free S-Rank Agent and W-Engine
As part of the second-anniversary celebration, Zenless Zone Zero is providing a major gift to its player base: a free limited S-Rank agent and their corresponding signature S-Rank W-Engine. Proxies can use a selector to choose one from a preset pool of five agents and weapons. This offering is designed to assist players in acquiring an agent they do not yet own or upgrading an existing character’s Mindscapes.
The available S-Rank agents and their respective W-Engines for the second anniversary are:
- Jane Doe: Sharpened Stinger
- Lucia: Dreamlit Hearth
- Hugo: Myriad Eclipse
- Trigger: Spectral Gaze
- Soldier 0 – Anby: Severed Innocence
Among these options, Lucia is highlighted as a particularly meta-friendly choice, currently considered the best support character for Rupture agents. The character was first released in October 2025. Proxies are encouraged to consider both meta utility and personal preference when making their selection.
This anniversary initiative follows the precedent set by the game’s first anniversary, which featured the Festival Channel
event. During that previous celebration, players were permitted to choose one free 5-star character and one free 5-star weapon from the game’s Standard Banner. While Standard Banner characters are often categorized as less powerful than exclusive counterparts, the gesture remains a staple of the game’s anniversary milestones.
New Characters and Gameplay Features
Version 3.1 introduces two new S-Rank agents. Remielle Dan joins the roster as the game’s first S-Rank Lumiflux Anomaly Agent. Remielle utilizes the new Lumiflux attribute and its exclusive “Refringereaction, a mechanic that allows her attacks to synchronize with the attribute of the next Agent in the party. She also possesses a
Phase Flow” state, which grants off-field buffs before she executes a powerful Assist Attack. Her Signal Search banner will be available for the entire duration of Version 3.1.

The second new S-Rank agent is Sigrid, the Airspace Patrol deputy. Arriving in the second half of the update, Sigrid is an Ice Attack Agent who specializes in aerial spear combat and rhythm-based attack chains. Additionally, a new S-Rank Bangboo named Ariel will be added to the roster.
For players looking to acquire returning characters, Aria will be available during the first half of the update. The second half will feature an Exclusive Rescreening banner, allowing players to choose between Dialyn, Ukinami Yuzuha, and Asaba Harumasa. Players will also be able to select one of their signature W-Engines for the weapon banner, with pity progress carrying over between rerun banners.
Story Expansion and New Game Modes
The narrative in Version 3.1 continues from the conclusion of Where Clouds Embrace the Dawn, bringing Proxies back to Roscaelifer. As more of New Eridu’s major factions arrive on the island, protagonists Belle and Wise continue their investigation into the Sacred Trees and the mystery surrounding the Exaltists. The update promises to reunite familiar faces while introducing new allies and threats.
Beyond the story, the update introduces a permanent game mode titled Enigma of the Labyrinth: Operation Bagel. This is a seasonal roguelike activity that tasks players with exploring a Hollow to rescue Eous after an experimental device attracts a dangerous Ethereal. Furthermore, the update includes the release of the Xbox PC version, expanded events and activities within New Eridu, quality-of-life improvements, and new cosmetics for players to enjoy.
