NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Zion Williamson scored 33 points and the New Orleans Pelicans beat the Philadelphia 76ers 124-114 on Wednesday without star center Joel Embiid.

Embiid was ruled out shortly before the start of the game due to illness, which forced Philadelphia to take charge of the game without their leading scorer, who is averaging 32 points this season and who also helped them have an incredible presence in the paint.

Williamson took advantage of the absence of the 2.13-meter center and dominated under the basket, hitting 11 of 12 field goals, as well as 11 of 12 free throws, also recovered eight rebounds and added six assists. With this production Williamson has 26 points and five assists in each of his last six games.

New Orleans had a key player back. Veteran CJ McCollum returned after suffering a partially collapsed lung that forced him to miss 12 games. McCollum scored 20 points in 28 minutes, including the basket near the end that helped confirm the victory.

Jonas Valanciunas had 19 points, Jordan Hawkins 16 and Brandon Ingram 15 for the Pelicans, who saw their two-game losing streak end.
