It was confirmed that the Department of Huila will host the zonal finals of the 2024 Intercollegiate Games.
This decision was made after a meeting between the governor of Huila, Rodrigo Villalba Mosquera, the director of Inderhuila, Felipe Victoria Barragán, and the Minister of Sports, Astrid Bibiana Rodríguez.
The working group, made up of local and national government figures, assured that The sporting event will take place from March 12 to 23covering the different sports delegations of six departments in the region. An investment of close to 2,000 million pesos is expected from the Ministry of Sports to guarantee the logistics of these games.
Felipe Victoria Barragán, director of Inderhuila, highlighted the importance of these zonal finals not only in sporting terms, but also in the economic boost that will generate in Huila. It is expected that sectors such as hotels, restaurants and transportation will benefit, which will boost the generation of direct and indirect jobs during the development of the fairs.

In addition, Victoria Barragán emphasized the local government’s commitment to strengthening sports in the department, with the aim of consolidating Huila as a prominent territory in this area.
«This fills us with joy. It has been a directive from our Governor that Inderhuila manage events of national and regional stature, with the support of each and every one of the officials who have been working on this important event,” stated the director of Inderhuila.
With this decision, the Department of Huila is preparing to receive athletes, coaches and delegations from different regions, in an event that not only promotes physical activity and healthy competition, but also the economic and social development of the region.
