The section “An artist, one day at the Festival Off d’Avignon” of Friday July 28 meets Garlan Le Martelot, who plays in “Courgette” whose action takes place in a children’s home.

The show Courgette tells the story of a 10-year-old child who finds himself in a home after an accident. “He’s going to meet other flayed children like him,” confides Garlan Le Martelot, who plays the role of Courgette in the play. Despite their failing parents, they will mend their hearts, helped by Raymond, a kind policeman, but also thanks to the music that helps them show resilience.

Crying parents, happy children

The nickname Courgette, which was also an animated film, comes to him from his mother. Garlan Le Martelot explains that the show was born thanks to his daughter. During confinement, the child confided to his mother, the director Pamela Ravassard, that this story had touched her. “Together, we co-adapted the novel by Gilles Paris”, says the artist. The show is open to all: “Often the parents come out in tears and the children with the banana (…) Zucchini will awaken the child who lies dormant in you. You will go through a multitude of emotions”, assures Garlan Le Martelot.
