Trichy: More than normal monsoon has been reported in all parts of Tamil Nadu since the onset of the northeast monsoon.

In this situation, it started raining again from Thursday in some places including delta areas and coastal districts. It continued to rain without letting up yesterday. Roads in flood prone areas of the state were flooded with rainwater. In the low places the water stagnated like a pool. The normal life of the public was affected by the sudden rain.

Several areas, including the capital Chennai, were again flooded. Heavy rains in the delta districts in Thiruvarur, Mayiladuthurai and Tanjore districts have flooded about 18,000 acres of irrigated samba fields.

Farmers are suffering more as paddy crops ready for harvest in two more weeks are damaged.

The Met Office has forecast three more days of rain.

Meanwhile, heavy rains near Ponmanthurai village in Dindigul caused flooding in 100 houses, according to reports.
