Kabaddi’s franchise league, India’s own sport, will kick off on Wednesday with Pro Kabaddi. The eighth season of the tournament begins on the 22nd.
Twelve teams are in the fray this time. The teams go to court with huge tackles, dashes and raids.
The Bengal Warriors, Bengaluru Bulls, Tamil Talaivas, Telugu Titans, U Mumbai, UP Yodha, Jaipur Pink Panthers, Gujarat Giants, Patna Pirates, Haryana Steelers, Puneeri Paltan and Dabangg Delhi KC will play against the teams.
Along with the Indian players, many foreign players are coming to the court to fire for the various teams. Iran’s captain Meraj Sheikh, Iran’s Abujar Mikhani, Fazal Atrachali and Korean national team captain Yang Kun Lee are some of the prominent foreign players on the field.
The opening match of the tournament will be between former champions U Mumbai and the Bengaluru Bulls. The reigning champions, the Bengal Warriors, will also play on the first day. Bengal’s rivals are UP warriors.
All matches of the tournament are scheduled to be played in a single stadium due to the Kovid scare. This is because teams can not enjoy the home ground and the home crowd.
Spectators will not have access to the stadium where the match will take place. Instead, the match will be telecast live on eight channels, including Star Sports.
