Atletico Madrid players celebrate (Reuters)
The last 64 stage of the Spanish King’s Cup opened today (Saturday) and provided several interesting results. In the spotlight: Atletico Madrid with a strong lineup beat Almazan from the fifth division 0:2, Villarreal ran over Santa Amelia from the sixth division in Spain 9:0.
Almazan – Atletico Madrid 2:0
Cholo Simeone started with a very strong line-up that included, among others, Oblak, Koke, Felix and Griezmann, probably knowing that this is the last enterprise in which the Colchaneros have high chances to win it. In the 35th minute, Angel Kora scored the first goal of the game. Joao Felix doubled in the 63rd minute from a header by the substitute Rodrigo de Paul and determined the result of the game.
Santa Amelia – Villarreal 9:0
The yellow submarine had no mercy on the humble host from the sixth division. Diego Cuiado broke the deadlock in the 31st minute, Alex Bahne and Jose Luis Morales added within five minutes. Samuel Chukwueza scored a quick-fire brace within two minutes of the second half, Francis Coquelin, Etienne Capo and substitute Gerard Moreno (double) later added to give their coach, Kika Steyn, a second straight win with his new side.
