The 1-0 victory in the Ländle Rapid keeps in the Bundesliga race, Beljo scored the golden goal. 45 minutes was enough, the rest fell under the term “spare flame”.
Rapid is still on the road to success. On Sunday, the Hütteldorfers celebrated a 1-0 away win over SCR Altach in the ninth round of the Bundesliga with a goal from Dion Beljo (36th). at least for the time being. If Sturm Graz had not won the subsequent defeat against Red Bull Salzburg, the Green-Whites would have gone into the international break as leaders.
In the case of the Artach team, however, there was no coaching effect. Despite the departure of Joachim Standfest and the arrival of interim head coach Louis Ngwat-Mahop, the penultimate team from Vorarlberg have been waiting for a win for six rounds and suffered their third defeat in a row.
Rapid relied on the same starting line-up as in the previous games against LASK and Basaksehir, and that should pay off. After an initial feeling out, the guests gradually took control. Nenad Cvetkovic headed a corner from Jonas Auer just wide (20′), Guido Burgstaller also missed the target by a few centimeters (29′).
Seven minutes later, Altach’s defense was disorganized, Louis Schaub played Beljo free and the Croatian beat goalkeeper Dejan Stojanovic. It was then that the home team found their way into the game a little better – Mike-Steven Bähre missed from the edge of the penalty area (42′), Gustavo Santos tripped around seven meters (44′).
After the break, Rapid switched to energy-saving mode and more than ever left the ball to an Altach team, who did not know what to do with it. The Rheindörflers made too many mistakes to put the Green-Whites in deep trouble. Neither team found a compelling chance in the second half – until the 91st minute, when Santos went central against Hedl.
