The Wrestling Federation of India has banned 10 wrestlers from playing in the qualifying tournament for the Asian Championships.
The Asian Championships will be held in Mongolia from April 19 to 24. The selection of wrestlers to represent India will take place in Lucknow. In this situation, 10 wrestlers including Nisha Tahiya, Honey Kumari, Ankush, Anju, Raman, Geeta, Bathery, Priyanka, Naina and Pooja, who won bronze at the Under-23 World Championships, have been barred from participating in the qualifying competition.
The athletes have been banned from playing in the qualifying round for the Asian Championships for failing to attend the national training camp, which began on February 9. “Immorality cannot be tolerated under any circumstances. We don’t want to tap into the opportunities of the best wrestlers. But they must understand that what they have done cannot be taken for granted, ”said Brij Bhushan Charan Singh, president of the Indian Wrestling Federation.
