A concert of students of the Republican Gymnasium of Arts at the Azerbaijan National Conservatory took place in the Chamber and Organ Music Hall of the Azerbaijan State Academic Philharmonic named after Muslim Magomayev in Baku. The concert program was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the prominent Azerbaijani composer, People’s Artist Suleyman Aleskerov (1924 – 2000), Day.Az reports.
The program featured the performance of the Azerbaijan State Chamber Orchestra named after Gar Garayev under the direction of artistic director and chief conductor, People’s Artist of Azerbaijan Fakhraddin Kerimov. The soloists of the program are laureates of republican and international competitions Jalala Ismailzadeh, Asim Rzazadeh, Nailya Novrasli, Abid Chelebiev, Sevil Abdullayeva, Inji Hasanly, Muhammad Jabbarov, Nurana Salamova, Fateh Iskender, Nihad Orujov. The choir of the Gymnasium of Arts (artistic director – Valida Jalilova) also performed at the evening.
The composer’s works were performed at the evening. The orchestra sounded amazingly beautiful, and the young soloists were able to convey the character of the great composer’s music, inspiring the audience with their reading.
In conclusion, the grandson of Suleyman Alaskerov, Honored Artist of Azerbaijan Jabir Imanov thanked everyone for their attention to the composer’s creative heritage, and also expressed gratitude to the organizers of the event.
It should be noted that Suleyman Alasgarov wrote two operas, twelve operettas, two symphonies, a symphonic mugham “Bayaty-Shiraz”, overtures for a symphony orchestra, two symphonic poems, six cantatas, works in various genres for choir and orchestra of folk instruments and about 200 songs and romances.
He is also the author of many musical compositions for documentaries and the feature film “Ulduz”, filmed in 1964.
