In March 2022, the Wine Travel Awards 2021-2022 online wine tourism award ceremony will be organized for the first time. Armenia, under the sponsorship of the “Development of the Private Sector and Vocational Education and Training in the South Caucasus” program of the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ) and with the support of the Armenian Viticulture and Winery Foundation (ARVF), will present 11 Armenian wine tourism projects at the award ceremony.
Voting will begin March 1 at www.winetravelawards.com. Winners will be determined by both public voting and judging by a jury of wine and enotourism experts.
“This competition is held for the first time in an innovative format. It includes the implementation of joint advertising and information campaigns in the target countries. They will contribute to the popularization of nominated wine tourism projects, competition partners, as well as participating countries,” said Hayarpi Shahinyan, an expert in international programs of the Armenian Academy of Sciences and a master of innovative wine tourism.
Articles and profiles of the nominated projects will be published in the Wine Travel Awards Guide catalogue, which will be shown at the most important and popular wine exhibitions, including London Wine Fair and ProWein;
In addition, public awareness campaigns will be carried out before and after the competition in the target countries: Spain, France, Italy, United Kingdom, Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova.
Profiles of candidates nominated from Armenia in various nominations, for whom you can vote, are presented below.
The Viticulture and Winemaking Foundation of Armenia was established by the decision of the RA Government in 2016 for the purpose of effective and systematic development of the viticulture and winemaking sectors, as well as the implementation of new state policy strategies and development programs.
The main goal of the fund is to increase the volume of consumption and export of Armenian wines, and the global recognition of the “wines of Armenia” brand.
The goals of the foundation are:
Creation of a national system of geographical indicators,
Development of the cadastral system of grape seedlings,
The study of genetic resources of Armenian grapes,
Preservation of indigenous varieties, creation of own collection,
Providing support and advice to large and small producers,
Training and professional re-equipment of wine technologists and winemakers,
Promotion of Armenian wines, export support,
Creation of a unified electronic information system containing up-to-date information on grape varieties and orchards, wine production, in order to control the quality of wine products and avoid possible counterfeiting.
