The Green Bangla Garment Workers Federation and the National Workers Unity Center have demanded the implementation of 11 points including the implementation of the rationing system of garment workers, the wage announced in 2023.

On the occasion of May Day on Wednesday (May 1) in front of the National Press Club, the leaders made these demands from a joint initiative of Green Bangla Garment Workers Federation and National Workers Unity Center.

The demands are – creation of employment opportunities for all workers, ensuring free trade union rights, enacting 6 months maternity leave, specific allocations for workers in the national budget, signing ILO Conventions 102, 189 and 190; Repeal anti-worker black laws, ensure safe workplace and working environment, stop outsourcing practice and retrenchment, immediately set up National Minimum Wages Commission.

President of Green Bangla Garment Workers Federation and National Workers Unity Center, Sultana Begum, spoke at the rally. Elias, Vice President Sweety, Selina Hossain, Organizing Secretary. Farid Uddin, Secretary of Education and Training Rozina Akhtar Sumi, General Secretary of Women’s Committee Amrin Hossain Anyi, Office Secretary Rabeya Islam, Ashulia Thana Committee President Yusuf Sheikh, Regional Committee Md. Taherul Islam, Md. Sumon Hossain Molla and others.

Apart from this, Shantana Ayyub, project coordinator of the civic initiative, spoke in solidarity.

At the end of the rally, a red flag procession circumambulated High Court Mor, Topkhana Road, Paltan Mor and ended in front of the National Press Club.
