The report of the expert committee said that a hospital in Kerala was also involved in the incident where the mother and stepfather of a 16-year-old girl sold the eggs of a 16-year-old girl to various private hospitals in Tamil Nadu. The report is about an incident where a 16-year-old girl’s eggs were sold to infertility hospitals by forging documents that she was a married woman. The state health department has ordered the immediate closure of four hospitals in Tamil Nadu found guilty of the incident. The action is based on the report submitted by the experts of the Directorate of Medical Services and Rural Health Services (DMS) who investigated the incident. The report also recommends action against two hospitals in Kerala and Andhra involved in egg sales.

Infertility treatment institutions like Erode Sudha Hospital, Salem Sudha Hospital, Ramaprasad Hospital in Perunthurai and Vijay Hospital in Hosur have been ordered to be closed immediately. Along with this, the report also suggested taking action against Sri Krishna Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram and Matruthva Test Tube Baby Hospital in Tirupati, News Minutes reported.

According to the investigation report, shocking cruelty was inflicted on the girl. Only married women are legally allowed to sell their eggs once for infertility treatment. However, the girl’s eggs were sold by hospitals eight times over a four-year period between the ages of 12 and 16. The hospital paid Rs 25,000 to the child’s mother and stepfather for selling the eggs. According to the report, Rs 20,000 was paid to the mother and Rs 5,000 to the stepfather.

The information about the sale of eggs was revealed last month. A woman who is distantly related to the child approached the police. The boy was coming to them asking for help. They filed a complaint about this incident with the Salem Police. The child’s mother, stepfather and an agent were arrested during the police investigation. There was also a complaint that the girl was sexually assaulted by her stepfather several times. Then a case was registered against him under POCSO.

The police investigation found that the girl started selling her eggs when she was 12 years old. Eggs were sold for four consecutive years. It was also found that the girl’s eggs were sold by making a fake Aadhaar card stating that she was married.

Following this, an investigation by health experts was conducted on the instructions of Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian. In their report, it was found that private infertility treatment institutions are selling eggs in violation of all laws. Based on this, after receiving the report, the minister said that four hospitals were immediately ordered to be shut down.
