A previous earthquake in Indonesia on December 26, 2004 triggered a tsunami in 14 countries, including India. The coastal areas in Tamil Nadu were severely affected. More than a thousand civilians were killed. Today, 17 years after the tragic event, the public paid tribute to the victims of the tsunami by pouring milk and sprinkling flowers on the sea.
