Former President Trump Holds Strong Lead, But Nikki Haley Rising in New Hampshire GOP Presidential Poll

According to a recent poll released by The Washington Post and Monmouth University, former President Trump continues to maintain a dominant lead in the 2024 GOP presidential pack in New Hampshire. However, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R) is on the rise in second place.

In a hypothetical primary race, 46 percent of registered Republican or undeclared New Hampshire voters stated they would vote for the former president, while 18 percent of the voters said they would cast their vote for Haley.

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie came in third at 11 percent, with entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy following at 8 percent and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis at 7 percent.

However, DeSantis fared better as the top backup choice, with 20 percent of voters saying he was their second choice, followed by Haley at 17 percent and Ramaswamy at 11 percent. Only 8 percent of voters said Trump was their second choice.

Despite Trump’s lead in the poll, he also had a high unfavorability rating among respondents, at 36 percent. However, he was not the most disliked candidate, as Christie rated at 60 percent and DeSantis at 40 percent.

The Post and Monmouth poll matched the results of a recent Emerson College Polling survey, which found Trump leading the pack at 49 percent, followed by Haley at 18 percent, Christie at 9 percent, and DeSantis at 7 percent.

The Post and Monmouth poll was conducted from Nov. 9-14, featuring responses from 606 New Hampshire voters registered as Republicans or undeclared. The margin of sampling error was 4.5 percentage points.

It appears that while Trump still holds a strong lead, the rise of Nikki Haley and the strong support for Ron DeSantis as a second choice highlight the evolving landscape of the 2024 GOP presidential race in New Hampshire.
