Santa Rosa, La Pampa, Febuary 21, 2025 – Athletes in La Pampa province will be celebrated next Friday, February 23rd, at the Medasur Provincial Cultural Center, but this year’s Caldén Awards ceremony will look a little different.Due to the current economic climate, the traditional celebratory dinner has been scaled back, a decision that reflects broader financial pressures impacting sports organizations across the region.
A Night of Recognition Amidst economic Headwinds
The 2025 Caldén awards will honor top athletes from La Pampa, despite the cancellation of the customary fellowship dinner.
- The Circle of Sports Journalists of La Pampa announced the shortlists for the 2025 Caldén Awards.
- The awards ceremony will be held on February 23rd at 8 p.m. at the Medasur Provincial Cultural Center in Santa Rosa.
- A formal awards ceremony will replace the traditional fellowship dinner due to economic constraints.
- Athletes unable to attend are asked to designate a representative.
- Numerous athletes across a wide range of sports are nominated for recognition.
“when the economic situation allowed it,we did it with a dinner and an event where the family could accompany,” explained Javier Urban,a member of the Circle of Sports Journalists. “The national crisis is felt at the provincial level, which means that the places that previously helped us cannot do so now.We have had to maintain the commitment of all the years to distinguish athletes.In this circumstance it could not be with a dinner.”

A Diverse Range of Nominees
The shortlists showcase a remarkable breadth of athletic talent across La pampa. Nominees include Joaquín Llanos, Diego de Marzi, and Sofía Ponce in Chess; juan Salvador Olivera, Nadia Otero, and juana checovich in Athletics; and Esteban Rojo, Andrés Motta, and Valentín Conte in Motoring.
Other sports represented include Basketball (Agustín Barbera, Nerina Chirino, Franco Zalabardo), Bicyclecross (Oriana Brigada, Rocco Orozco, Juan Brigada), Bowls (Omar Valquinta, Rubén Daniel Valle, Marcelo Valle), Boxing (Aixa Adema, Joaquín Pintos, Axel Maldonado), Cestoball (Ailén Ambroggio, Franco Gerbaudo, Ailen Mayer), and cycling (Mateo Olguín, Jackelina Pansa, Julián Barrientos).
Colombofilia sees Diego and Fabio Moreno,Gustavo Garro,and Marcelo Grosetti vying for the award. Riding nominations include Florencia Taramarca, Yanina Reale, and Melina Boeris. Soccer hopefuls are Axel Bertaina, Agustina Maldonado, and Jerónimo Gutiérrez. Artistic Gymnastics contenders are Malena Bondergham, Bárbara Montaño Ulrich, and Justina dedino.
Additionally, the following athletes are also nominated: Juan Alberto “Tito” Salary (Ultramarathon), Marcelo Millán (Ultramarathon), Omar Coria (cycling), Guillermina Corrales (football for the blind), Santiago González (Boccia and adapted swimming, category S1), and Fausto Barrientos (PCD Table Tennis).
