New Interim Government Sworn in Bangladesh
Dhaka, Bangladesh – August 9, 2024 – Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus will lead the newly formed interim government of Bangladesh. The oath-taking ceremony will take place on Thursday (August 8) at 8:30 p.m. in the Durbar Hall of Bangabhavan.
To facilitate the ceremony, 21 new cars have been prepared from the transport pool and kept in the cabinet department. The head of the interim government, Muhammad Yunus, has been allocated a BMW latest series car. Other members of the government will receive Toyota Camry hybrid models.
The interim government formation comes after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and left the country on Monday (August 5) amidst ongoing protests. Other ministers and state ministers are deemed to have resigned following the prime minister’s departure.
Speaking to reporters upon his arrival in Dhaka, Dr. Yunus expressed concern over the current situation in the country, calling for an end to the violence and conspiracy. He emphasized the need for unity and protection of minorities.
“We must stop the chaos, violence, and conspiracy that is hindering our progress,” Yunus said. “Every human being is our brother or sister. We must understand each other.”
