Ready-made garment factories are ahead of other countries in the world in achieving eco-friendly certification. In continuation of this, this time another ready-made garment factory of the country got an environment-friendly certificate. The company is Gazipur Sreepur Area Fashion Maker Limited. With this, the total number of environment-friendly factories in the country stands at 215.
This information was reported from Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) on Wednesday (April 17).
The factory has received an eco-friendly certificate from the US Green Building Council (USGBC). If a factory gets more than 80 out of 110 marks in compliance with the 9 conditions of certification, it gets ‘Lead Platinum’, 60-79 marks ‘Lead Gold’, 50-59 marks ‘Lead Silver’ and 40-49 marks ‘Lead Certified’ certificate. is given And out of 110 marks, the fashion maker got 87 marks and got the ‘Platinum’ certificate.
According to BGMEA data, there are currently 215 eco-friendly factories in the ready-made garments and textiles sector with LEAD certification. 81 of them are lead platinum certified. Besides, 120 gold, 10 silver and 4 factories have received certified certificates.
Bangladesh has the top 100 highest rated lead green factories in the world. Not only that, 9 of the top 10 factories and 18 of the top 20 highest rated lead green factories are located in Bangladesh.
