After 23 minutes, Mario Frick had seen a lot: When the score was 0-2, the Lucerne coach took 21-year-old Tyron Owusu off the field, brought on Levin Winkler, who was the same age, and as that set an example. Although the change was probably made as a preventative measure due to an adductor injury, it really sent a jolt through the team.
Seconds later, Thibault Klidjé had a great chance, which he missed. 6 minutes later Donat Rrudhani did better. After a long ball from Klidjé, the 25-year-old went alone to Lausanne goalkeeper Karlo Letica, leveled him and scored the goal.
Lausanne loses the decision
The Lucerne side never seemed to be on their feet after that and the Vaud side had several chances to take the lead after the break. Alvyn Sanches hit the post with his hammer at the best opportunity in the 64th minute after a counter attack.
And so it happened, as it often happens. In the 80th minute, it was Winkler who scored after a Severin Ottiger header to make it 2-2. In the 90th minute, Joker Adrian Grbic had a great chance to win for the leader. The striker Lausanne Sanches rushed back and with an important tackle he prevented the great dispute of the Romans, who had been in the lead for a long time.
The beginning of a disaster for Lucerne
At the beginning everything was going well for Lausanne. In the 8th minute, Alban Ajdini used a cross from Teddy Okous, who played for Lucerne last season, to take an early lead. The FCL responded immediately. But Nicky Beloko‘s supposed equalizer was disallowed just 17 (!) seconds after the restart due to a narrow offside position.
In the 18th minute it was the visitors who raised the score again to 2-0 through Sanches after an excellent combination. The FCL responded quickly again, but again without success. Karim Sow took Klidjé off his feet in the penalty area. Lars Villiger took the penalty, but Letica missed his weak shot. He was interrupted by his teammates Stefan Knezevic and Pius Dorn, who ran in too early.
This is how it continues
After the international break, both teams will continue in two weeks. Lucerne visit the struggling champions in Bern on Saturday and Lausanne welcome Winterthur on Sunday.
