Disaster Council Reports 22 Fatalities Across Multiple Regions
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council confirmed the death toll on Saturday, August 15, 2026, noting that the triple weather systems severely impacted 1.4 million families across ten distinct regions.
Disaster response operations remain active as authorities tally the human toll from the severe weather. The affected areas span the Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, the Cordillera Administrative Region, and the National Capital Region.
Benguet Bears the Heaviest Casuality Burden From Landslides
Benguet recorded the highest number of fatalities at 15, driven largely by severe earth movements. Ten people died in Baguio City alone due to a massive landslide, while three fatalities occurred in Atok and two more in La Trinidad from similar slope failures.
Other provinces also reported storm-related deaths. Rizal recorded three fatalities—including two in Rodriguez caused by a rockslide and one in Antipolo from a fallen tree. Batangas logged three deaths from separate incidents: one each due to drowning in Batangas City, electrocution in Lipa City, and a landslide in Santa Teresita. La Union reported a single drowning death in Luna.
Evacuation Centers House Tens of Thousands Amid Infrastructure Damage
More than 44,700 displaced residents continue to shelter in government facilities. A total of 395 evacuation centers were established, housing 14,600 families, according to figures released by the disaster management council.
Physical destruction from the storms proved extensive. The weather systems damaged 1,818 houses, leaving about 1,600 partially damaged and nearly 180 totally destroyed. Government officials placed the preliminary estimate for infrastructure damage at P3.33 billion, while agricultural losses climbed to P689.7 million.
Search and Rescue Efforts Continue for the Missing
Emergency crews continue to search for three individuals still unaccounted for following the disaster. The missing persons include one resident each from Alaminos in Pangasinan, Candelaria in Quezon, and Batangas City.

In addition to the fatalities and missing persons, seventeen individuals sustained injuries across Benguet, Abra, Ilocos Sur, Rizal, and Cavite. Many of the injuries resulted from landslides and fallen trees in the Cordillera region.
Government Aid Deployment Across Affected Communities
National and local agencies have mobilized financial and material resources to support the millions affected by the overlapping weather systems. The government has distributed over P592.5 million in assistance to hard-hit communities as response and relief operations continue across the ten impacted regions.
