US President Joe Biden said he “knows how and when Israel will respond” to a missile attack from Iran that occurred in early October. However, Biden declined to reveal further details about Israel’s plans. The President also expressed hope for the possibility of facilitating a ceasefire in Lebanon, adding that the situation in the Gaza Strip may prove more difficult to resolve.

Biden’s statement came after his phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last night and after a senior Israeli official said action in response to the Iranian attack would be taken soon.

On October 1, on the eve of Rosh Hashanah, Iran fired about 180 ballistic missiles into Israel, targeting the southern and central regions of the country. As a result of the rocket attack, 1,864 air raid signals were activated in various populated areas. Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said the attack was in response to the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and Iranian General Abbas Nilproshan in an attack earlier in Dahaiya.

While details of Israel’s response to the Iranian attack remain unclear, President Biden noted that diplomatic efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Lebanon could prove successful. However, the situation in the Gaza Strip, he said, poses more difficulties for achieving peace.

Earlier, Kursor wrote that Iran could respond to Israel’s retaliatory strike with a larger missile attack.
