Germany said that the death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar should be an important step towards a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the release of all remaining hostages.
This was reported by The Times Of Israel.
Representatives of the German government emphasized that this event could help resolve the conflict and create conditions for the delivery of humanitarian aid to the region.
German Foreign Minister Annalena Bärbock, discussing the situation with her American counterpart, noted that this moment could be a turning point in the process of achieving a ceasefire and the release of hostages, as well as in providing additional humanitarian support to Gaza.
A representative of the German Foreign Ministry confirmed this position at a press conference, adding that Germany hopes to develop dialogue in this direction.
At the same time, the German government refused to comment on Sinwar’s possible successor as Hamas leader, but emphasized the importance of an early cessation of hostilities and resolving humanitarian issues.
