2XKO Season 0 Early Access Launches with New Champions, Ranked Mode, and Extensive Patch Notes

Riot’s highly anticipated tagfighter, 2XKO, is entering early access within hours, igniting excitement among fans who have followed its development and closed beta testing. This marks the first time the game will be broadly available, and with it comes a comprehensive set of patch notes for Season 0, updates 1.0.1 and 1.0.1.1, detailing significant changes and additions.

According to a company release, 2XKO will receive major updates with each new season, and crucially, there will be no account resets – meaning all unlocked champions and cosmetics will be retained. While a console release is not yet on the horizon, progress on PC will seamlessly transfer over when console versions become available.

Patch Details: 1.0.1 & 1.0.1.1 Release Dates

The updates will roll out in two phases:

  • Patch 1.0.1: Live October 7, 8:00 AM PT
  • Patch 1.0.1.1: Live October 9, 12:00 PM PT

New Content Arriving in 2XKO Season 0

The Season 0 update introduces a wealth of new content designed to enhance the player experience. Closed Beta participants will be immediately recognized with an exclusive “Closed Beta Boss” player title, which may take up to a week to appear in their account’s Cards and Titles section.

New players will benefit from “First Step Missions,” offering rewards, including a Champion Token, for learning the game’s fundamentals. Completing the “First Fight” tutorial also grants a Champion Token, which can be exchanged for a new character.

Meet the New Champions: Teemo and Warwick

Season 0 welcomes two new fighters to the roster: Teemo and Warwick.

Teemo, described as a champion who controls space with traps and projectiles, utilizes poisonous mushrooms, darts, and rocks, earning scout badges to amplify his abilities. Players can find more information on his movelist and a developer update.

Warwick, on the other hand, is a hunter who leverages “Bloodlust,” a unique resource that unlocks special moves and cancel options when full. His movelist and gameplay trailer are slated for release tomorrow, followed by a developer update the next day.

Both champions can be unlocked from the Champions tab, and starting with Season 1, each season will introduce a new character. Unlocking options include:

  • For the first three weeks: 1,000 KO Points, one Champion Token, or the Ultra Battle Pass bundle.
  • Recruitment Events, offering a free unlock via Battle Pass XP.
  • After three weeks: 10,000 Credits, 1,000 KO Points, or one Champion Token.

Notably, new champions will always be playable in Training and Offline modes, even before being unlocked.

Mastering the Game: Combo Trials and Frame Data Bar

Players can now hone their skills with Combo Trials, a new tutorial system featuring over 250 champion combos, rewarding Credits upon completion. A new Frame Data Bar has also been added to Training Mode, allowing players to visualize frame data and refine their timing.

New Stages to Battle On

Season 0 introduces two new stages to customize the visual backdrop of matches:

  • Bandlewood Crossing: Available in the Stages section of the Collection tab.
  • Firelight Run: First reward on the paid Battle Pass track, later purchasable with Credits.

System Changes and Balance Adjustments

Based on feedback from the Closed Beta, Riot is implementing several system adjustments to refine the meta. These adjustments target Double Down, Super Tag, and meter gain, alongside balance updates for specific characters.

A senior official stated that the goal is to improve Braum and Blitzcrank, bring Jinx, Ekko, and Yasuo into better alignment, and ensure more consistent combos for Ahri and Vi. Detailed character adjustments can be found in the 2XKO Season 0 Champion Balance Update Notes.

Ranked Mode Goes Live

Ranked matchmaking, tuned based on Closed Beta data, launches October 9 with patch 1.0.1.1. Players can anticipate slightly longer queue times in exchange for more balanced matchups. Placement matches will more accurately reflect expected rank, and reaching Challenger will require increased effort.
