As part of the amplifier festival at the Enav Center in Tel Aviv, last night the members of the Church of Wisdom returned 30 years ago in time to the album “Take Songs” from 1994, in which they composed songs by Yehuda Amichai, Meir Wieseltier, and Nathan Zach. The mythological band hosted Shimon Adaf, the author of the song ” Autobiography” from the album and proved once again why this is one of the most favorite rock bands of Israelis of all time, even during times of war.

The audience did not remain indifferent and did not stick to their seats at a rock party that is always a continuous pleasure, a singer with a legendary voice and musicians who reinvent themselves every time, in front of the familiar songs from the album; “Don’t want to sleep” and “Love and pain song” by Yehuda Amichai, “When loneliness is not a fear” by Natan Zach, and more.

In a winning combination, the poet and writer Edaf joined in and read excerpts from his poems, among others those that refer to the boulevards in the book “The Monologue of Icarus”: “The circus past of the girls blossomed with the flutter of a skirt/ when the crowd sawed it with their gaze./ Only loveless places receive absolute love”, lines that were interwoven Well within the repertoire of one of the band’s most important works, as mentioned – the second album it released, “Take Songs”.

Towards the end of the show, the Church of the Mind didn’t skimp on favorite hits from newer albums either, thus, the songs “Hands Up”, “How It Feels”, and of course “We Would Make Love” justified and reminded of the burning fire burning in the band that broke out somewhere in the nineties into the heart of the Tel metropolis -Avivi, the one who conquered all the peaks she could since then and also in an intimate hall in the Gan Ha’ir mall in 2024, made the audience beg for an encore, which although it didn’t come, but on its way – left a taste for more.
