Indian authorities have announced that at least 33 people have been killed as a result of monsoon rains and floods in southern India over the past two days.

In the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, many houses collapsed and were swept away by heavy rains, and flooding disrupted road and rail traffic, officials said.
Telangana chief officer Shanta Kumari said the Meteorological Department had issued a red alert for 11 districts and expected more rain in the region.
Over 4,000 people have been shifted to 110 relief camps in Telangana since last Monday.
N. Chandrababu Naidu, an official in the state of Andhra Pradesh, said that relief teams are doing everything they can to evacuate residents from the flooded areas.
More than 170 people have been killed in six states in northeastern India due to floods and mudslides caused by rain since last June.
