Pathanamthitta: Massive fire in Pathanamthitta city. The fire broke out in four shops opposite the municipal complex in the city. A One Chips bakery was the first to catch fire. The fire then spread to four nearby shops. Two bakeries, a shoe shop and a mobile shop were gutted. Three of these shops were completely burnt down.

The incident happened at 1.30 pm. Efforts to put out the fire are ongoing with the help of the fire brigade and locals. The cause of the fire is unclear. When the fire broke out, three gas cylinders in the bakery’s kitchen exploded. With this, the fire spread to a large extent.

Gas cylinders were thrown about 50 meters in the blast. They fell on the opposite side of the road. One person was injured. He was admitted to the hospital.

Shops have suffered major damage in the fire. The goods in the nearby shops have been changed as a precaution.
