40 NGOs call for extension of ceasefire in Yemen

by time news

Shortly before the end of the six-month ceasefire in Yemen, more than 40 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) called for the ceasefire to be extended. NGOs, including Oxfam and Save The Children, warned yesterday that this is a critical time for the people of Yemen.

Important progress has already been made. However, it would take more time before Yemenis could start rebuilding and get back to their lives.

A two-month ceasefire began on April 2 and has been extended twice so far. Since then, the situation in the country, which is experiencing one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world, has calmed down somewhat. The NGOs demanded that any future ceasefire must last longer to ensure stability.
