It was actually there, the 48-hour spring. Yesterday and Friday, the sun and mild temperatures meant: Let’s get out!

Jena – People cavorted in street cafes, the bees buzzed around the spring blossoms, people leaned against the walls of the house with their eyes closed, letting themselves go Sunbeams warm body and soul.

In Jena (Thuringia) the temperature even touched the 25 degree mark, from which meteorologists speak of a summer day: 24.6 degrees! All the signs were green: Off to the garden! BamS stopped by happy people who tended to their flower beds, their lawn and their barbecue.

The great thing: Gardening trains the muscles and the heart and is pure stress relief. Sowing, planting, digging in the ground with your hands – this has the effect of meditation. It fits: Yesterday was Earth Day. It should remind us to appreciate mother nature.

Of course, this is easier on a warm spring day. But for now it will be cooler. Diplom meteorologist Dominik Jung (45) from Wetter.net: “Tuesday and Wednesday even night frost and sleet at high altitudes are possible. It will be warmer again next weekend: 14 to almost 20 degrees. But spring is still struggling.”

“We prepare the garden for the first barbecue party”

Finally spring in Fischbachau in Upper Bavaria. Hobby gardener Andi Wittmann (35): “Tomorrow we’re celebrating my wife’s birthday and have invited many friends to the barbecue party.”

The cherry laurel tree is a gift. Full family power for planting – the children Felix (5) and Lilly (2) are there with great enthusiasm.

Mama Gela (38): “We’ve also cut the hedge, pulled weeds, potted daffodils and hyacinths. The lawn is also freshly mowed.” nag

Anton Pollinger (62) enjoys the 48-hour spring in his Munich allotment garden.

It’s not far from his butcher’s shop: “Of course we grill our own meat here, it tastes best. I have been a member of the board of the allotment garden association in Munich Südwest 35 for 17 years. The plants have to be watered regularly.

But I’ll take my time with planting until after the ice saints. They are from May 11th to 15th. Then I plant tomatoes because the risk of frost is very low.”

Architect Carla Höss (41) from Munich has owned an allotment garden for four years: “I have big plans for the 48-hour spring – I grew Rhenish butter cabbage.

This is an old type of cabbage whose leaves can be harvested individually. I am planting the seedlings now. And the snails are also at risk.

I left cabbage stalks from last year, the snails collect underneath, you can just pick them up.”
