5 drownings within hours: The death of a father and daughter who drowned in Palmachim was determined

At 18:53, a report was received at the MDA hotline in which a 21-year-old man was reported in fair condition, after drowning on an undeclared beach, near Halutzi HaTa’asiya Street in Haifa. MDA staff evacuated him to Rambam Hospital while he was conscious with difficulty breathing.

At 19:27, a report was received at the MDA hotline about 3 children aged 6, 8, and 14 in critical condition, after drowning on Delilah beach in Ashkelon. They were evacuated to Barzilai Hospital.

At 19:42, a report was received at the MDA hotline about a 5-year-old boy in critical condition, after drowning in the Kibbutzim River near Kibbutz Mesilot in the Beit She’an Valley. He was rushed to Valley Hospital during resuscitation operations.

At 20:45, a report was received at the MDA hotline about an 18-year-old woman in critical condition, who was pulled from a pool in Tel Aviv while she was unconscious. MDA staff performed CPR on her and when her pulse returned, she was evacuated to Ichilov Hospital, where she was anesthetized and in critical condition.

At 21:53, a report was received of a drowning on an undeclared beach in Palmachim. Rescuers performed CPR on two drowning men, a 50-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman. The 50-year-old man turns to Assaf the doctor, in a critical condition.

MDA reported that from the beginning of the bathing season on April 8, 2002 until the evening, the organization’s rescue forces provided medical treatment to 121 people who drowned and were taken from the sea, the pools and the various water reservoirs throughout the country.

Of these: 16 drowned, 4 in human condition, 8 in severe condition, 19 in moderate condition, and 74 in mild condition.
