5,000-year-old tombs of “people from Russia” discovered in Serbia

by time news

Archaeologists from Poland working in Serbia have discovered two burial mounds estimated to be about 5,000 years old. According to scientists, people from the territory of modern Russia are buried in them.

The burial mounds are located in the Shaikashki region in the autonomous region of Vojvodina in the lower reaches of the Tisza River, naukawpolsce.pl reports. Their diameter is about 40 meters and their height is 3-4 meters.

Scientists suggest that one of the burials was created around 3000-2900 BC, and the second – 100-200 years after it. The fact that the mounds were built by people from another region is supported by the high growth of the buried men, as well as the use of ocher during burial – such a practice was uncharacteristic for local residents.
