California: 6 bodies and 154 remains were found in the warehouse of a crematorium whose license was suspended in Hayward, California. The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office said six bodies and the cremated remains of 154 people were found in a warehouse in Hayward in January owned by a crematorium whose license had been suspended.

The crematorium’s license to store the remains was suspended last year, but it was still stored in the warehouse as of 2013, officials said.

Steps are underway to identify the remains and inform the next of kin. The sheriff’s office said it has received several calls about the remains and has so far been able to connect three people to the remains of their loved ones.

He told the staff that he had his father’s remains in his possession even though he contacted a fourth person about his father’s remains. The authorities concluded that what he was holding was someone else’s remains. Oceanview Cremations Corporation has been operating under a suspended license since 2018.
