Terrible news once again leaves Cameroon in mourning. Today, on the Eyumodjock-Ekok axis, six gendarmes including the brigade commander were caught in an ambush by suspected separatists. A tragedy which brings to 1,494 the number of soldiers who have fallen since the start of this never-ending crisis.

The chilling story of a barbaric attack 😱

According to the first elements collected by 237online.com, the convoy of law enforcement officers was attacked by surprise while it was traveling between Eyumodjock and Ekok. Caught under heavy fire, the commander and five of his men died instantly. An act of incredible violence which aroused fear and consternation throughout the country.

The horror doesn’t stop there 😡💔

Not content with having coldly killed these men who served the nation, the attackers did the unthinkable. They burned the victims’ bodies in their bullet-riddled vehicle. A macabre scene that says a lot about the cruelty and determination of the secessionist forces.

Bruised Cameroon, in search of peace 🙏✊

Faced with this spiral of violence which is causing Cameroonian families to mourn more every day, the time is more than ever for national resurgence. Because behind these appalling statistics, there are broken lives, widows and orphans abandoned to their suffering. This fratricidal war is destroying the social fabric of an entire country.

A call for unity and dialogue 🕊️🤝

In these dark hours, 237online.com would like to express its solidarity with the bereaved families and all the innocent victims of this crisis. But more than ever, we call on the responsibility of all stakeholders to silence the guns and favor the path of dialogue. Only a negotiated political solution can put an end to this infernal cycle.

Cameroon is at a crossroads. There is still time to choose the path of reconciliation and peace. So that the sacrifice of these soldiers and all the victims is not in vain. So that future generations can once again live in a united and prosperous Cameroon. This is the challenge that awaits us all. Let’s face it, together.
