62-year-old Swiss specialist Bernard Shaland was appointed the head coach of the Armenian national football team. The President of the Football Federation of Armenia, Ruben Hayrapetyan, announced this a little while ago during a special edition of the “Football Hour” program of the “Armenia” television company.
It should be noted that Shaland started his coaching career in 1977, working in Swiss clubs. In 2001-2007, Schaland worked for the youth team of Switzerland. In 2007, he replaced Lucien Favre as the head coach of “Zurich” and worked there until 2010. Under the leadership of Shaland, “Zurich” performed quite successfully in the European Cups. 2007-08 One of the most prestigious clubs in Switzerland won a ticket to the group tournament of the UEFA Cup, and in 2009-10. played in the group tournament of the Champions League.
It should be noted that his work in the Swiss “Tun” did not work out, and Shaland was removed from the club. In one of the interviews given in this regard, he said that the main reason for his leaving the club was dishonesty. “They were not honest with me. I don’t want conflicts. The right thing to do at this point is to leave.”
The coach’s last club was Young Boys, from which he left in the summer of 2013.
Let’s remind that the Armenian national team led by Shaland will play in the qualifying round of “Euro-2016”. He will go to work after the Russia-Armenia match on March 5.
