MADRID, 7 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The French Police have found 70 kilograms of cannabis in a search of the private home of Jamilah Habsaoui, the mayor of the French town of Avallon, in eastern France, with about 7,000 inhabitants.

The gendarmes have located the drug at the home of Habsaoui, who is a pharmaceutical technician. The mayor’s brother has a record of drug trafficking, according to French television BFMTV citing police sources, who highlight that the operation is still open.

Habsaoui was elected mayor of Avallon in 2021 as a candidate for the Socialist Party (PS) and also holds a position as a regional deputy in the Yonne Regional Council.

The French Government has launched Operation Clean Space XXL since mid-March to tackle the problem of drug trafficking with the personal involvement of French President Emmanuel Macron.
