7th Dialogue International Film Festival: A Celebration of “Palestine in Struggle”

The 7th Dialogue International Film Festival organized by Ottapalam Dialogue Film Society will begin on January 25. 38 films in various categories will be screened at the film festival till January 28 at Ottapalam Lakshmi Picture Palace.

The theme of the festival, organized in collaboration with the Kerala State Film Academy and the Federation of Film Societies of India, is ‘Palestine in Struggle’. A special feature of the fair is the package of films themed on the Palestinian issue.

Famous director Anurag Kashyap will attend the inauguration of the film festival on 25th at 4 pm. Renowned Arabic calligrapher Khalilulla Chemnad will perform calligraphy for Palestinian solidarity. Actors Ramya Nambeesan, Unni Rajan, director Shruti Saranyam, Kerala Film Academy Secretary C. Ajoy and other celebrities from the film culture will participate.

The short film ‘Nottam’ made as part of the film making camp organized by Dialogue Film Society will be screened on 26th at 10 am. Vinay Fort, Nimisha Sajayan, Prashant Alexander, Dr. Biju, FFSI representative K.C. Praveen will also participate.

Films will be screened in categories such as World Cinema, Indian Cinema, Malayalam Cinema Today, Docu-Movie etc. Palestinian-themed Farha, 200 meters. Movies like Waltz with Basheer, films including Pandiyan, Attam, B32 to 44 in the Malayalam cinema section and films like Witness and Shivamma in the Indian section will be screened.

Ken Loach’s The Old Oak, Me Captain, Tar, There Is No Evil and others will be screened in the international film category. In the docu-movie category, The Unknown Kerala Story, Beyond Hatred and Power We Keep Singing are also being screened.

Anil Radhakrishna Menon, Rajeev Ravi, K.M. Kamal, Rohit M.G. Krishnan, B. Ajith Kumar, Anumol, Shahi Kabir, Rajesh Madhavan and others will also be part of the various sessions of the fair. Face-to-face with debutant directors, open dialogues, tributes to talent, book festival and photo exhibitions will also be held during the film festival days.

As part of the fair, an open forum will be held on 26th and 27th at 4.30 pm. On the 26th, Dr. Kathiravan and Muzaffar Ahmed will participate. On the 27th, an open dialogue will be held on the topic of ‘Changing Perspectives of National Cinema’. G.P. Ramachandran and Shreya Sreekumar will participate.
