This Saturday “For the first time. The 60+” show will invite viewers to the screens for the last time this season, continuing the story started about the 81-year-old senior Salomėja Vosylienė. Growing up in the village of Gražiški, she was a single person, pampered by her parents, but quite a mischievous girl. It is with a wide smile that the heroine of the show remembers herself from childhood and when asked about her unfulfilled wishes, she says that she wants to get this joy back.

“My dream is to be able to smile beautifully again. Since childhood, I am used to laughing a lot, laughing, giggling, smiling. This is very important to me. Therefore, I would like to have beautiful teeth”, the elderly woman will say.

Salomėja dreams of a new smile out of a need necessary for a dignified old age. For the past few years, she has not been able to eat what she wanted or what she liked. The woman’s food was more like a baby’s diet than an adult’s, because the removable upper dentures she had been wearing until now were simply uncomfortable.

“I only ate porridge and drank yogurt. I really needed cucumbers and carrots for my health, but I couldn’t eat anything. Dentures don’t hold, they fall off whenever I chew something. Later, it started to hurt, I thought that it would be really bad for me, so I won’t be able to do without implants anymore,” the elderly woman tells the show.

The specialists of the dental clinic “Dantų harmonia” only agree with Salome, because dental implants are the best solution for patients who want to restore lost teeth. In order to achieve such a result, the special “All-on-4” methodology was applied to the elderly woman, which is well known and has been applied by implantologist Marius Bučinskas for many years.

“This is not a new thing in our clinic, we already have a routine and we were happy to be able to give patients a different life. People who have all their teeth don’t understand the joy of being able to eat a salad or bite into an apple again, but when it’s done, patients usually say that they thought it would be worse, and then they ask themselves why they didn’t do it earlier.” the doctor will confirm.

During one visit, all of Salome’s upper jaw teeth were restored, implants were inserted, and temporary teeth were placed on them in one day at “Dantų Harmony”. This means that Salomeja will be able to eat and chew as soon as she returns home.

“Now I’m going to eat zeppelins. I want to eat what I like. I can not only smile, but also laugh. The dream came true in abundance, because youth returned. I invite others not to wait until the last moment, but to go when the problem starts. You need to dream, because dreams do come true”, Salomeja will be happy.

Another topic of the show will invite you to a special place located on the picturesque coast of the Kaunas lagoon, surrounded by a pine forest – the care home of the Eugenija and Leonidas Pimonov Alzheimer’s Disease Support Fund. This place provides skilled care and care for people with insidious Alzheimer’s disease.

“After Lithuania regained its independence, Academician Pimonov returned to Lithuania from France, where he had a noble idea – to create an Alzheimer’s disease support fund, because his wife Eugenija suffered from this disease and he realized how difficult and complicated it is to take care of such people”, the head of the fund, Kęstutis, told the show. Moser.

It is estimated that there are about 55 million people with this disease in the world, and according to the latest data, this number will triple by 2050. If the first stages of the disease are associated with forgetfulness, the later ones are associated with a person’s challenges to take care of themselves and their hygiene. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure that a person eats, dresses, and washes himself, so that he does not stop communicating with others, and in most cases, relatives are not able to meet all needs.

“Relatives cannot provide all the necessary care all the time, because they have jobs, families, their own problems, and because of this, the relatives themselves are tired both emotionally and physically. Then they turn to foster homes. Our employees know individually what each person specifically needs. Safety, physical activity, balanced nutrition are also ensured, residents of the nursing home are socialized and occupied with various activities so that they do not feel sad,” said Inga Šatienė, the manager of the nursing home.

Well, the third topic of the show will focus on men’s health, because it turns out that in the 21st century, women have better health than men and they live longer in many countries of the world. Almost everywhere, the life expectancy of women and men differs by even a few years, Mindaugas Dūdonis, a family doctor at the “Sveikatos ratas” clinic, supports this, stating that there are diseases that can only affect men and they should pay more attention to their health if they want to avoid them.

“Although the majority of diseases in men and women are similar, there are certain diseases that occur at different times. For example, women are blessed with their female hormones, which makes them less likely to develop cardiovascular disease than men. Also, men have an important organ for them – the prostate, so it is important to ensure a regular sex life and to include necessary nutrients in the diet, because some, even advanced diseases, can recede if we correct the diet”, the doctor will say.

The show “First time. 60+” is a great proof that there is no age limit to the desire to enjoy life. Host Laura Balčiūtė interviews seniors, their first generations and the most relevant news – Saturday, 5 p.m., only on “Lietuvos ryto” television.”
