New Delhi: Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur informed the Lok Sabha that the Central Government has given 83.58 crore rupees to the All India Football Federation in the last five years for the development of football. This was informed in response to Antony’s question. India’s position in the world football rankings is 106 (men) and 61 (women).

The National Sports Federation provides training and other assistance through the Sports Authority of India. Apart from this, financial assistance is also provided for overseas training and participation in international competitions. The minister also informed that in addition to the allocation in the budget for the financial year 2022-23, another 10 crore rupees have been allocated for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
