8th class student’s suicide; Case against 2 teachers for incitement

Kannur ∙ A case has been filed against the teachers who are accused of suicide of 8th class girl Rhea Praveen in Peralaseri. The case is against Shoja and Rakesh, teachers of Peralassery Higher Secondary School. Chakarakal police submitted the investigation report to the court.

From the beginning, the police had suspected that two teachers of the school where Rhea studied were the motive behind the suicide. The child’s suicide note also mentioned against these teachers. As part of the investigation, the police recorded the statements of the teachers. Following this, the police decided to charge the two teachers with inciting suicide.

The State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has sought a report from the police regarding the incident. Commission Chairperson KV Manoj Kumar also visited the school and the student’s house. He had also met the school principal, head teacher, PTA president, district child production officer, Chakkarakal CI and parents of the child to collect information.

A case has been filed against Riya’s class teacher Shoja and sports teacher Ragesh. Chakarakal CI Sreejith Koderi submitted the investigation report to the court.

The 8th class student was found hanging dead in the Ivar pool at 5 pm last night. The deceased is Rhea Praveen, daughter of Ivar Kulam Swapnakudu Praveen. He was thirteen years old. Rhea Praveen is an 8th class student of Peralassery AKG Higher Secondary School. The body was found hanging from the window wire in the bedroom of the house. The body was cremated after post-mortem.
