Mumbai: The Indian cricket team for the series against Sri Lanka has been announced.
The Indian team will play in India against Sri Lanka in 2023. BCCI has announced the details of Indian team players for T20 and ODI series. Accordingly, Indian team captain Rohit Sharma, who was out of action recently due to a thumb injury in the Bangladesh series, has recovered from the injury and is set to lead the team again. However, Rohit Sharma has been announced as the captain for the ODI series. The three-match ODI series begins on January 10 in Guwahati. The remaining two matches will be played at Kolkata and Thiruvananthapuram stadiums.
Dhawan, Pant removed; Shami Returns: India’s veteran batsman Shikhar Dhawan has been dropped from the ODI squad. Dhawan, who led the team in the series against South Africa and New Zealand, has been dropped from the squad due to poor form. At the same time, the wicket keeper has been rested. Fast bowler Mohammed Shami has recovered from injury and is back in the team.
Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma, who is the captain of the ODI series, did not feature in the T20 series. Instead, it is reported that all-rounder Hardik Pandya will once again lead the team. After the T20 World Cup semi-final defeat, Hardik Pandya is leading the Indian T20 team on the tour of New Zealand. Subsequently, he has been appointed as the captain for the Sri Lanka series. The three-match T20I series begins in Mumbai on January 3, followed by two matches in Pune and Rajkot.
