Kochi: The report of the Food Safety Authority says that the cardamom used in Aravana Payasam in Sabarimala is not edible. According to the report submitted by the FSSAI in the High Court, Cardamom is not safe under the Food Safety Act and the presence of 14 pesticides causing serious health problems has been found. The results of the tests conducted at the Kochi Spices Board Lab are given in the report. The High Court will consider the report today. FSSAI conducted the inspection as directed by the court.

The Food Safety Commissioner had earlier reported that during the inspection conducted on the instructions of the High Court, substandard cardamom was being used in Aravana. The High Court is considering a petition filed by a private individual in this regard.
