Raipur (Chhattisgarh): India will enter the second ODI today with a view to the series against New Zealand. This is also the first international match to be played at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Stadium in Raipur. The match is at 1.30 pm. In the first ODI, the hosts won by 12 runs against New Zealand despite scoring 349 runs thanks to Shubman Gill’s double century. From 131 for six, Michael Bracewell had beaten the Indian bowlers head on. Mohammad Siraj’s form has helped India in bowling.

Hope Gill continues his good form. Even though captain Rohit Sharma got off to a good start, he could not raise the score to a huge innings. When Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya join, the batting line-up is very strong.

The bowling rate of the hosts is not that strong. Although Siraj is in form, Shardul Thakur, who played the last match in place of Umran Malik, gave away many runs and took two wickets. Thakur was given a chance in the hope that he will shine in batting more than Malik. Hardik has been ‘hit’ enough. Mohammed Shami bowls with discipline in the new ball.

Among the spinners, Kuldeep Yadav played well but Washington Sundar conceded 50 runs in seven overs in the first ODI. Number 7 batsman Brace Well and number 8 Mitchell Santner helped the Kiwis chase well in the first ODI. Meanwhile, India was fined 60 percent of the match fee for the low over rate in the first ODI. India bowled three overs short of the allotted time.
