We Basques dedicate 21.7% of our income to the payment of the mortgage loan

We Basques dedicate 21.7% of our salary to paying the mortgage, one of the lowest percentages in Spain, where Andalusians, people from Madrid and especially the Balearic Islands spend more than 30% of their income for this purpose.

According to the real estate appraiser Tinsa, which has taken data from the Tax Agency, the INE and the Association of Property Registrars of Spain, the average amount of mortgage loans signed in the third quarter of 2022 was 143,722 euros. In Euskadi, the highest average is in Gipuzkoa, which with 170,059 euros far exceeds the register of Bizkaia (159,018 euros) and Álava (144,070).

This implies facing a monthly fee of 634 euros. In the Basque Country, only people from Alava are below this average (pay 601 euros) while Gipuzkoans and Biscayans (with 725 and 668 euros, respectively) far exceed it.
The average in the autonomous community is 673 eurosone of the four highest along with that of Catalonia, Madrid and the Balearic Islands.

This means that we Spaniards dedicate 30.9% of our income to meet this payment, a figure that slightly exceeds the threshold recommended by entities such as the Bando de España, which places the total debt at 30% (that is, that is to say, all those contracted and not only the one linked to the floor) that at most our domestic economy must support.

In Euskadi, the effort is equivalent to 20.05% for people from Alava, 22% for Biscayans and 22.5% for Gipuzkoans, percentages that are far removed from the 53% that they must dedicate in the Balearic Islands or 42.1%. of the people of Malaga
