The search for the actor who would play the character of Michael Jackson in a movie about the life of the king of pop ended within the family, when the role was cast by nephew Jafar Jackson.
Director Antoine Fuqua announced that Jafar Jackson (26), son of Jermaine Jackson, Michael’s older brother and member of the Jackson Five, was chosen to play the lead role in the film. This is the first film role of Jafar Jackson, who has been singing and dancing since the age of 12.
Jackson did not hide his excitement. “I am thrilled and honored to bring the story of my uncle Michael to life,” he wrote in a post he published with a photo of him in a famous dance move by the King of Pop. “To all the fans around the world, see you soon.”
The film “Michael”, which is due to begin filming this year, is intended to present the life story of the singer who died aged 50 in 2009, including “his most iconic performances that made him the greatest entertainer of all time”. Due to the cooperation of Michael Jackson’s estate with the production, it is not yet clear how the film will deal with the allegations made against Jackson for sexual abuse of minors.
