New escalation in the war in Ukraine: the Russian Armed Forces have started the deployment in the Baltic Sea of ships equipped with nuclear weaponssomething that had not happened in thirty years, according to a report by the Norwegian Intelligence services, which also includes the dispatch of submarines.
It would be about Northern Fleet ships, which at the time of the Cold War was already sailing with atomic weapons to account for the weapons potential of the former Soviet Union. Norway is not aware that Putin’s Russia has ever resorted to this type of deployment, according to the study cited by Politico.
The same Norwegian intelligence report points out how Moscow is “deliberately” stirring up fear of a possible nuclear attack, arguing that it would be willing to use it in case it was threatened by external agents.
Norway also warns of the possible escalation of tensions and the possibility of NATO becoming involved and recalls how Russia is suffering a significant loss of equipment and troops.
